The Roots of Music are African - an essay by Rand E. Kruger

Around 50,000 years ago early human natives began to disperse from Africa and settled on other continents. Since a certain form of music can be found with even isolated regulars, science concludes that music is likely to have been present in the ancestral population prior to the dispersal of humans around the world. Consequently and based on palaeo-ontology the first music has most probaly been invented in Africa!

The origin of music likely stems from rhythms and sounds occuring in nature and human music is literally simply echoing these phenomena using tonality, patterns and repetition. Consequently it is possible that the first instrument was the human voice itself. Dating around 4,000 years ago the oldest known song was written in cuneiform (earliest known writing system in the world). It is demonstrated that it had beencomposed in harmonies of thirds.

Music evolved to become a fundamental constituent of human life already in the prehistoric decade and it always built an integral part in the life of Uno-Volcano, Jimmy P., L.J. and Rand E. Kruger, born and raised on the continent where it all began.

A warm welcome - enjoy yourselves!
